Wood (woodland) pastures represent a specific habitat and traditional land-use form, at national level, majority of localities is degraded or lost; the few intact remnants represent important biodiversity hotspots and refuge for saproxylic species. This project is focused on detailed mapping of the distribution of wood pastures in Slovakia in the period of 1949-50, assessment of their landscape context, current state, accounts and impacts of habitat degradation, specifications of tree management methods, and the designing of revitalization and management for perspective localities distinguished to ensure the favorable state of species and habitats of European interest.
