The AgroForestry Consortium, whose members are the Technical University of Zvolen and the Slovak University of Agriculture, will be entered into the register of consortia of Slovak universities as of December 31, 2025.
It will become a unique consortium of universities in the Slovak Republic focused on ecology, sustainable agriculture and precision forestry, design and green infrastructure
Preparatory activities (including infrastructure) were financially supported by the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture of the Slovak Republic from the mechanism for supporting restoration and resilience within the Consortium-AgroForestry project (08I01-20-V05-00011) with a budget of over EUR 20 million.
Activity 2 aims to create joint study programs:
- Mechatronics (professionally oriented Bachelor study program)
- Agroforestry (engineering ŠP) Precision Agriculture and Forestry (engineering study program)
- Landscape Conservation and Use (Doctoral study program)
- Wildlife Management and Conservation (Doctoral study program)
- Inclusive Exterior and Interior Design (Doctoral study program)
Within Activity 4: Connecting Research and Innovation Capacities for Excellent Research and Innovation in Agriculture, we are implementing the following activities:
- Creating a catalog of research teams and research areas Exchanging best practices and experiences with the management of research teams and research infrastructure and their harmonization (HRS4R)
- Stimulating communities to create joint research teams and share research infrastructure
- Creating a more efficient innovation ecosystem with agricultural practice, preparing a joint online catalogue of cooperation opportunities for practice
- Establishing a consortium centre Euraxess (supporting the career development of young academics)
Also, within activity 5 we are creating a catalogue of research infrastructure and sharing our educational infrastructure with the consortia.
The aim of the consortium is:
- To create an environment for the creation and implementation of innovative study programs that will be competitive in the international environment and will increase the rating of universities in international rankings. This will contribute to retaining talents in Slovakia, but especially to making it more attractive for foreign students and academics.
- Support diversification, profiling, inclusion and cooperation with foreign countries, the public and private sectors, strengthen the quality of human capital, social inclusion, innovation potential of Slovakia, higher competitiveness of the economy, economic growth and sustainable jobs.
- Create synergistic effects and high added value with regard to strengthening capacities and eliminating operational, professional, educational and administrative duplication.
