Plant species richness along altitudinal gradient in floodplain forests on background of ecological factors and human impact – expected

Although altitude does not represent environmental factor "per se", it is frequently studied topic in ecological
research. The response of species richness along the altitudinal gradient can have different patterns depending
on spatial scale, as well as on the length of altitudinal gradient itself. Floodplain forests are habitats reflecting
various altitudinal gradients, what makes them excellent objects for the study. The aims of the project are as
follows: i) to determine the patterns in species richness of the understorey in floodplain forests along the
altitudinal gradient on various hierarchical levels and for different plant species groups, ii) to determine which
environmental factors and human impacts are responsible for the discovered patterns of species richness
