Detailed data on research infrastructure/laboratory
- Description and data on the research infrastructure/laboratory:
Autonomous and mobile meteorological stations for measuring the properties of the natural environment at the microclimatic level with an installation that allows for operational movements in the field.
Each separate station monitors atmospheric characteristics in a vertical profile - at 3 heights (selectable from 20 to 200 cm). At each height, it provides measurements of air temperature [°C], air humidity [%] and air pressure [Pa], and at a height of 200 cm also global radiation [W/m2]. The direct output of the measurements is also the corresponding data of selected derived quantities directly calculated (without additional calculations in another environment), such as saturation complement [Pa], dew point [°C], saturated vapor pressure [Pa] and water vapor density [g/m3]. At the same time, it performs precise measurements of soil temperature at four different depths. The system is characterized by considerable flexibility - it can be supplemented with additional sensor/sensors.
The system includes special software enabling contactless data downloading, graphical display, processing and statistical evaluation of data in situ (directly in the field), and exporting measured data to *.xls and *.csv formats.

List of equipment:
Eight separate meteorological stations equipped with sensors for measuring environmental parameters:
- 3x temperature and humidity sensors and air pressure sensors including radiation shields
- 1x global radiation sensor
- 4x soil temperature sensor
- 1x datalogger
-
Justification of uniqueness/strategic importance:
The network of compact stations allows monitoring selected environmental parameters in a vertical gradient (atmosphere and soil) at various sites at the microclimatic level. The system can be used to monitor microclimatic specifics of diverse ecosystems, sites, different exposures, altitudinal transects, etc. The network of stations finds wide and irreplaceable application not only in forestry, agricultural and ecological research, but also in the process of modernized teaching of students at the Technical University in Zvolen.
