The project is focused on improvement of fire properties of wood by new fire retardants with the emphasis on minimization negative impact on environment and population health. New fire retardants of wood to improve their fire retardant effect will be prepared based on previous research of the members of the research team. The influence of modified wood on living organisms will be evaluated by ecotoxicological tests (acute toxicity tests as well as chronic toxicity tests). Toxic combustion gases created during burning of modified wood will be analysed in the project as well. Acquired knowledge will have wide use mostly in the field of wooden constructions.
