Effect of water deficit on physiological and growth processes of selected beech and spruce provenances

The project aims are to study the reactions of selected provenance of beech (Fagus sylvatica L) and spruce (Picea abies L. Karst) to water deficit, particularly at the level of a physiological growth procs. primary objective of the project is to characterize selected ecotypes of beech and spruce of different climatic regions of Slovakia in terms of their tolerance to drought. Water is one of the most important factors determining the growth and distribution of these species in our country. In the context of the ongoing climate change ever occurs to časttejšiemu of intense droughts, resulting in a reduction in their tolerance to adverse environmental conditions.
