To better understand mechanisms of wood weathering and biodegradation, and to improve durability and service life of wood products (including wooden cultural heritages): a/ searching of paints and their stability against weathering and fungi; b/ identification of degrees and ranges of selected defects in wood by in-situ methods (colour, ultrasound, resistance against micro-borer penetration, ...); c/ sterilization of wood damaged with pests using microwaves, infrared waves, ...; d/ protection of wooden products with new environmentally safely fungicides and anti-weathering compounds.
