Main research focus
Preparation of multiphase wood bio-composites with reduced emissions of hazardous substances with the required mechanical and physical parameters by targeted modification of thermosetting polycondensation resins with natural and synthetic polymers using bonding technology. This is a combination of physical, chemical and mechanical attributes, especially wood components, plant and animal polymers, activators, additives and adhesive mixtures. Research and development of new types of composite wood materials and application of new more effective systems with multifunctional effect and innovative chemical components to adhesive mixtures in the production of wood composite materials in order to minimize emissions of hazardous substances into the indoor air of interiors. Research in the field of using disintegrated bark of economically important wood species and other biopolymers as substitutes for previously used fillers in adhesive mixtures in the production of wood bio-composites. Research into solid wood and non-wood components as possible components of the inner core layers of agglomerated materials, aimed at quantifying possible types of bark, waste products from other industries (fabrics, plastics, rubber), focused on the sizes of the fractions used, proportions in fillers and proportions of fillers in adhesive mixtures, proportions in the inner layers of agglomerated materials.

The team members have more than 280 publications in the Web of Science Core Collection database with over 3,500 citations and an H-index of 29 (2023). Several publications in the Web of Science have been or are listed as Highly cited papers (currently 2 publications) or Hot cited papers (currently 2 publications). The team is made up of world-class scientists and researchers who are experienced and established experts in the field of research, recognized by the international scientific community, have been publishing in international journals registered in WoS and SCOPUS for many years, have numerous excellent citations to their publications according to SCI and achieve high h-indexes.
