Centre of Excellence Adaptive Forest Ecosystems aims to explore and pinpoint solutions for the establishment and protection of forest landscapes and rational use of its resources in terms of global change. The premise is to secure and utilize the capacity of forest ecosystems to adapt to the changing conditions of the natural environment on the basis of species, genetic and structural diversity. In the second step it concerns its use in forestry and integrated management of forest landsapes so that the natural dynamics of forest ecosystems can be used in the bioregulation of matter and energy cycles in vulnerable territories in value production of raw wood, as well as in ensuring multiple functions of forests. This implies the development and refinement of methods for environment-friendly accessing and extracting forest biomass. The Centre of Excellence Adaptive Forest Ecosystems is therefore a unique entity that provides comprehensive solutions for reducing the risks and costs of forestry on the one hand, and optimizes the production and reproduction of forest resources on the other hand.
