Main research focus
The excellent research team "Chip and chipless woodworking" is composed of experts with a professional orientation to woodworking processes, production technologies, woodworking tools, CNC machine programming, INDUSTRY 4.0, industrial furniture production and labour safety. The research team specializes in the interaction of tool / machine / workpiece, within the entire range of woodworking processes and wood-based materials. The multidisciplinary composition of the team allows for a comprehensive analysis of the process of chip and chipless machining as well as its product itself. The spectrum of analysed machining processes covers, in addition to traditional mechanical technologies, also machining with concentrated forms of energy and the process of hydrothermal treatment of wood. The research team performs expertise in the field of energy intensity, noise, vibration, temperature and hygiene of machining processes. Within the created product, it analyses the dimensional accuracy and quality of the created surface. The research team works on research tasks within the framework of basic research, as well as on demand-oriented research for production practice. The research team is capable of carrying out research tasks both within its specialized laboratories, but also directly in industrial conditions. The research team's instrumentation meets the highest standards in the field.
Reasons why the team can be considered top, research-based, or excellent:
The research team as a whole has more than 240 articles, over 2000 citations and an H-index of 22 (2025) in the Web of Sciences Core Collection database. The excellent research team "Chip and Chipless Woodworking" is composed of established and internationally recognized experts in the field. The members of the research team participate in solving Slovak and international scientific projects. Each member of the scientific team regularly publishes their scientific works in peer-reviewed professional journals and receives excellent feedback on their work. The research team cooperates with partner research institutions from the Czech Republic, Poland, Austria and Bulgaria.
