CONSORTIUM OF SLOVAK UNIVERSITIES (U10+ consortium)
The U10+ Consortium is a new association of slovak universities. On January 22, 2021, the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sports of the Slovak Republic entered a new association of ten Slovak universities in the register of universities called the Consortium of Slovak Universities, abbreviated as U10+. The seat of the U10+ Consortium is in Technical University in Zvolen.
The current members of the consortium are:
- University of Economics in Bratislava,
- Catholic University in Ruzomberok
- University of Presov
- Technical University in Zvolen
- Alexander Dubcek University in Trencin
- University of Trnava
- J. Seley University in Komarno
- University of Constantine the Philosopher in Nitra
- University of Matej Bel in Banska Bystrica
- University of St. Cyril and Methodius in Trnava
- Academy of Arts in Banska Bystrica
The consortium has almost 4 thousand creative employees, more than 50 thousand students and approximately 60 percent of the funding of Slovak universities and the Slovak Academy of Sciences from Horizon 2020 funds. It creates conditions for meeting European standards for improving the quality of education and implementing a wide range of research, using human and financial resources, supporting digitalization, building infrastructure and strengthening the synergy of its own capacities.
It has a significant position as a competitive partner for cooperation with foreign institutions. Specific cooperation focuses, for example, on the creation of joint study programs, lifelong learning, conditions for the functioning of internal quality assurance systems, the building of science parks and top teams, equipping laboratories or implementing joint scientific projects. The consortium's priority interest is also comprehensive care for students, their professional and personal development, employment and student life. This community of universities means an attractive offer for high-quality applicants for higher education to study and live in Slovakia. The consortium has a strong ambition to become a significant opinion authority in shaping strategies and policies to address the most important social issues at the regional, national and international levels.
The mission of the consortium is effective cooperation of member universities in the areas of education and student care, in research, development, artistic, project and other creative activities, as well as in fulfilling the social role of universities.
The main objectives of the consortium are:
- To improve the national, international and EU status of member universities
- Ensure and increase the quality of education, science, research and artistic activity
- Acquire and effectively use human and financial resources
- Strengthen mutual synergy of capacities and actively cooperate with other associations of universities and other entities supporting educational and scientific activity in Slovakia and abroad
