Detailed data on research infrastructure/laboratory
- Description and data on the research infrastructure/laboratory:
Laboratory for quantitative analysis of dendrochronological material (incremental probes from trees), including basic processing of wood anatomy.
-
List of equipment:
LINTAB RINNTECH station (2 pcs), Stereomicroscope ZEISS Stemi 508 doc, WSL-Core-microtome
-
Justification of uniqueness/strategic importance:
The dendrochronology laboratory is unique in Slovakia, it allows the analysis of incremental probes from trees for the following purposes: 1) dating of historical material, 2) dating of illegal logging in forests, 3) dating of events in the past (e.g. years with extreme weather, floods, avalanches, etc.), 4) monitoring the impact of climate change on tree growth, and more.
-
Assigning research infrastructure to one or more research areas:
- Agricultural, forestry and veterinary sciences
