Detailed data on research infrastructure/laboratory:
- Description and data on research infrastructure/laboratory:
The laboratory is primarily focused on research in the field of chip and chip-free wood splitting, mainly in the process of primary wood processing and forestry, which is a key aspect of the department's scientific and research focus. The basic equipment of this laboratory is a stand for research on saw blade-shaped tools, which is also adapted for cutting with chain tools. Another device is a hydraulic splitter, which is used for research in the field of splitting raw wood, as well as in general in the field of research on chip-free wood splitting by the shearing effects of mechanical knives. The last device in the field of wood splitting is a device for research on branching of raw logs with pneumatically driven knives. The task of the device is to simulate the process of branching of sawn tree trunks by means of harvester heads. An additional device of this laboratory is a hydraulic stand, which serves primarily as a didactic aid in teaching the subject Fluid Mechanisms. The device is designed to simulate the function of a closed hydraulic circuit and an open circuit for driving superstructure equipment. Its concept resembles the composition of the hydraulic system of a mobile working machine. Among other things, students can directly familiarize themselves with the issues of technological design of hydraulic equipment on this device. The laboratory is also equipped with a hydraulic vertical splitter and pelletizing equipment. - List of equipment:
Experimental saw for research in the field of chip cutting mechanisms, hydraulic splitter, delimbing research device with pneumatic knife drive, hydraulic testing device, hydraulic vertical splitter Güde GHS 500/8TE, pelletizing equipment AELA KL 120 L. - Reasoning for uniqueness/strategic importance:
The basis of this laboratory is a stand for testing disc and chain cutting tools (saws) enabling the measurement of energy and force ratios in the process of chipping wood, especially in the transverse direction. A hydraulic splitter has a similar purpose and focus, on which the processes of splitting wood mass are monitored during chip-free splitting of wood in the transverse direction, or during longitudinal splitting of wood. - Assigning research infrastructure to one or more research areas:
Mechanical engineering – research into cutting tools for chipping and chip-free wood cutting, especially in the field of primary wood processing.
