Beech forests represent the most widespread forest vegetation type in Slovakia with an important sientific and
socio-economic value. Species richness trend of vascular plants along altitudinal gradient reflects strong
competitive ability of the European beech. The project is focused on i) species richness-altitudinal relationship at
various spatial scales, and ii) potential factors controlling this interaction.
