Carbon sequestration is one of the key ecosystem services for climate chang mitigation. This capacity might be seriouslz endangered by increasing frequency and intensity of disturbances. The project assess carbon sequestration after bark beetle and fire impact on Norway spruce forests. Difference between carbon uptake (photosynthesis) and carbon release (respiration) will be used as an indicator of sequestraion capacity. Three methods will be used for carbon fluxes and he balance estimation: gasometric, biometric a ecosystem processes models. Pasive heating will serve for simulation of expected temperaure increase and physiological and pathophysiological impacts on spruce seedlings. The project output will propose adaptive spruce management under climate change conditions.
